Here are seven places to enjoy breakfast in Fairfield County.
Caffé Social, 73 North Main St., Norwalk: SoNo has this bright spot for all-day breakfast. Inside is sleek, yet cozy. Rust painted ceiling, and exposed ducts and beams, offset cool, blue walls. You can go in for a full menu of coffee beverages and tea.
Breakfast choices include "Elpida's" which is sausage over medium egg and cheese on a toasted croissant, and "Smart Choice," egg whites, spinach, tomato, onion, mushroom on a spinach herb wrap with avocado spread.
Nancy Diamond Berman of Danbury posted this on Facebook: "Caffe Social provides great food and terrific service in a bright and welcoming environment."
S&S Dugout, 3449 Post Road, Southport: This is a neighborhood joint in town since the 1950s and known for roast beef, meatloaf and a bunch of other sandwiches and basic breakfast menu which hits the necessary high notes of eggs, ham, sausage, potatoes, bacon, and omelets.
Will Diaz of Fairfield told Daily Voice, "Handmade hot sausage, egg, and cheese is outrageous."
Bull's Head Diner, 43 High Ridge Road, Stamford: All-American, dizzying array of meals, including every breakfast dish imaginable. You will enjoy all breakfast meals around-the-clock, thanks to a 24-hours-a-day schedule.
This High Ridge institution had packed booths and tables a recent rainy Saturday when a mid-morning hunger that came on quickly during a few stops downtown amidst the hustle.
Nicely located up on the less trafficky High Ridge with its own parking lot, that day booths, tables and the counter were full, still friendly servers quickly delivered two orders, one of perfectly piping hot, fluffy pancakes and two poached eggs firm, not runny, exactly as ordered, with generous servings of hash browns and sausage.
The Olde Blue Bird Inn Restaurant, 363 Black Rock Turnpike, Easton: With an impressive seven ways to order Eggs Benedict, omelets, waffles, pancakes, and egg croissant and burrito breakfast sandwiches, there's a lot to satisfy the day's important meal.
Elizabeth Menke of Weston said, "waffles, egg dishes, pancakes a million ways, super thick and buttery coffee cake. Favorite breakfast place, hands down."
In a Facebook post, Amy Alison Ward of Fairfield says, "cozy, relaxed atmosphere and the friendly helpful staff and the delicious food, (best homefries ever) make this place special."
Harborview Market, 218 Harborview Ave., Bridgeport: Once a grocery and later a convenience store, the current spacious spot with long wooden tables and wood floor serves all-day breakfast sandwiches, omelets and "platters" of French toast and waffles.
Jackie Montoya Lore of Fairfield described it. "Homemade freshness. Nutella filled croissants are to die for. Fresh squeezed OJ seriously omg. There truly isn't anything on their menu that isn't delicious."
Crowcafe, 2200 Madison Ave., Bridgeport: This is a cozy spot to sit down for a deli or breakfast sandwich, the second location of hallmark store which first opened in 1943 on Park Ave. and Gregory Street.
Jackie Montoya Lore said their "eggs, cheese and hash browns on a roll is so huge and delicious. You can barely fit it in your mouth. Handmade sausage and you can't beat their prices on breakfast sandwiches."
Early Bird, 86 Danbury Road, Ridgefield: This all-day diner has a weekday following and neighborhood appeal. Breakfast patrons keep coming especially on weekends. People wait on line and don't seem to mind because they know any-time breakfast platters are ample and arrive steamy and fast.
"Love this place. The food is great. Love the Early Bird muffin. My breakfast group gets together there every two weeks and the waitresses bring out our drinks even before we sit down. We kiddingly say it's like stepping into "Cheers," said Thea McGee, of Ridgefield, on Facebook.
Tonya Hinojosa of Ridgefield told Daily Voice, "Their omelets are yummy and so are their biscuits and gravy."
